ONE IN THREE WOMEN ON THE PLANET WILL BE RAPED OR BEATEN IN HER LIFETIME.
This Valentine’s Day, in honor of V-Day‘s 15th anniversary, the organization One Billion Rising is inviting women and those who love them to Walk Out, Dance, Demand, and Rise Up to end to violence against women. The organization hopes to mobilize people all across the globe in joining the movement by organizing or joining local gatherings to show their support in finding a solution to the growing number of atrocities committed against women.
The goal of One Billion Rising is to spark a revolution that will lead to:
A global strike
A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends
An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of their struggles and their power in numbers
A refusal to accept violence against women and girls as a given
A new time and a new way of being
