The Ruwanwelisaya stupa in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka is considered to be an architectural marvel. It is a sacred Buddhist site and one of eight places of veneration in Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in 140 B.C. by King Dutugemunu and remains one of the world’s tallest monuments, standing at 338 feet (103 m) with a circumference of 950 ft (290 m).
