Syria, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Mali, Iraq… the list of countries currently engaged in some form of conflict seems impossible to wrap our heads around — sometimes it feels as if the entire world has gone mad. And attempting to understand the causes, effects and extent of such conflicts can be even more mind numbing.
Iraq is one of the most recent conflicts to steal our attention here in the U.S. and rightfully so being that we fought an entire war to ‘end terrorism’ in the country. It seems that the typical cycle of foreign invasion, fight bad guy terrorist groups, put new figure head in place and skedaddle once all appears calm has bit the U.S. in the rear once again.
This narrated animation video explains what’s happening in Iraq in less than five minutes. It certainly doesn’t offer an in-depth look into the conflict, but it does explain the current situation in a basic, understandable manner.
