It isn’t news that bee populations are in serious danger. During the 2013-2014 winter, it was estimated that bee keepers lost an average of 23% of their hives. So what does that mean for us? Without bees, our food supply is threatened because these little amazing creatures are responsible for pollinating many fruits and plants that we eat.
Bee Friendlier, a campaign launched by Cascadian Organic Farms to spread awareness of the importance of this issue, created this video to show their efforts, as well as to share an important message to get you on board too. The video is focused around something called a “seedle,” which is a small ball comprised of clay compost and wildflower seeds that can be spread by the hundreds into fields and bloom into thousands of beautiful (and delicious, if you’re a bee!) wildflowers. Watch this to find out what you can do to save the bees, and in turn secure our food supply.
